Discaroo FAQ

Have a question that's not answered here? Here's our Feedback Page.

What is Discaroo?

Discaroo is a place to trade discs you don't want for one's you do.

The idea is simple: If you've played much disc golf then you definitely have discs you don't use for one reason or another. What do you do with these discs? Before now, if you're like most disc golfers, the answer is not much.

How Can I Trade My Discs?

  1. Create a Free myDisc Account
  2. List your discs and what disc(s) you want to trade them for.
  3. Find a disc you want and request a trade by offering 1 or more of your discs. Once the trade has been approved...
  4. Mail the disc

How Do I Ship Disc(s)?

Throw the disc into an envelope, address it and put 5 regular stamps on (6 for putters or discs over 170 grams). No need to go to the post office*, just cram it into your mail box and let the mailman do the work. You may also want to write "Do Not Bend" on the envelope.

Disc Shipping Examples

*For military AFO, APO and FPO addresses you need to mail the disc from the post office. Small price to pay for freedom so DO IT!

How Much Does It Cost?

Everything is free on Discaroo. The only cost to turn your unused discs into something you want is the cost of shipping.

What's a Wanted Disc?

A Wanted Disc is our term for, wait for it...a disc you want. More specifically, it's a disc you are willing to trade one of your discs for.

Wanted discs are meant to be "tied" together with the discs you are trying to trade. For example, let's say you have an Innova Champion Orc that you want to trade for an Innova Starfire or any Discraft Putter. First, create the listing for your Orc and then add the two Wanted discs and be sure to "tie" them to your Orc by checking the checkboxes availabe when you click the "Edit Wanted Discs" link under any of your discs.

One other thing to keep in mind is that the more generic the Wanted Disc is the more likely you will be to find a trade that matches its criteria. So, for example, if you're willing to trade your disc for any disc that is a driver then you would only fill out that form field on the Wanted Disc form.

Wow, that sounds more complicated than it actually is. If you are still confused drop us an email or call and we can help you out.

What's a Generic Disc?

A generic disc is a Wanted Disc that you create by leaving all of the fields in the Add Wanted Disc form set to optional. When you tie this disc to one of your own you are effectively saying, "I will entertain all offers for this disc."

What's Automatch and How Does it Work?

Automatch will show you all the possible trades available for a particular disc you own and have listed on Discaroo. A whole lot easier than browsing the discs trying to find good matches yourself.

Automatch can be accessed from your Disc List on your myDiscs home page.

How Does Feedback Work?

If you use eBay then you will be familiar with our style of feedback. After each trade you will have the option on your myDiscs home page under Transaction History to leave either positive, neutral, or negative feedback for the person you traded discs with.

Be considerate in the feedback you leave as it is permanent. Always try to resolve issues through direct email contact before leaving neutral or negative feedback. Give the person a chance to make it right.

How Can I Avoid Being Scammed?

Feedback is the simplist way to know if a trader is legitimate. We recommend that if you have good feedback and are trading with someone with zero to negative feedback, that you make the trade with the understanding that you will not be shipping your disc until you receive their disc.

Also, if a trade sounds to good to be true it probably is (i.e. your beat up old DX Beast for their New First-Run Destroyer).

If you have doubts that a trader has the disc they are offering to trade simply request that they email or upload a photo of the disc that includes their Discaroo user name written down and legible in the photo.

How Does Discaroo Handle Scammers?

The first time a user contacts us with a complaint regarding a potential scammer we will contact the accused user and attempt to amicably resolve the dispute between the two parties. If the user continues to scam discs we will report them to the PDGA (if they are members) and request that they stop using Discaroo. If a user continues to use Discaroo AND continues to scam other users, Discaroo will charge them with mail fraud which is a federal offense. The punishment can be a fine or up to 5 years in prison.

What if Someone Screws Me Over?

It is possible that someone could rip you off. Just remember it's only $2.05-2.46 (the cost of the stamps) and a disc you didn't use anyhow. If you are really concerned be sure to only trade with other players who have strong feedback and good comments.
